Bartnett Places Second at Penn Relays
PHILADELPHIA, PA- The Johns Hopkins men’s track & field team competed at the historic Penn Relays this weekend at Franklin Field on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.
Andrew Bartnett led the way for Hopkins with a second-place finish in pole vault. Bartnett and Joe Miceli of Binghamton both cleared 4.95m, but Miceli earned the win based on fewer misses at lower heights.
Hopkins’ distance medley relay team was the top Division III finisher, completing the race in 10:14.51, which broke the previous JHU record. Charles Thornton, Zach Shelley, Dominic Yared and Scott Pourshalchi crossed the finish line just under 13 seconds after the winners from Middle Tennessee St.
The Penn Relays served as the final event for Hopkins before it looks to defend its Centennial Conference title next weekend at Dickinson.
