Carr Breaks Pole Vault Record At Dickinson Spring Classic

Carlisle, PA - Senior Megan Carr (Highland Mills, NY/Monroe Woodbury) broke her previous school record with a pole vault of 10'0" Saturday as the Johns Hopkins men's and women's outdoor track teams competed in the Dickinson Spring Classic.

Carr, who broke her previous school record by six inches, finished 10th in the event. Senior Andrea King (Farmington, NM/Farmington) provided the other highlight of the day, as she improved her discus throw by more than 10 feet to finish fourth in the event with a throw of 116'6.75", the second longest throw in school history.

King was also second in the shot put with a throw of 38'3", while sophomore Liz Krimmel (Tucson, AZ/University) threw the javelin 98'8.75" to place 15th in the event. Sophomore Katie Finnigan (Bend, OR/Mountain View) finished fifth with a triple jump of 34'8" and ninth with a high jump of 4'10".

Sophomore Ilolochicka Emuh (Highland, CA/Redlands) placed eighth in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.55, while junior Anna Russell (Memphis, TN/White Station) finished a team-best 34th in the 1500-meter run in 5:20.24. Freshman Andrea Christman (Westlake, OH/Westlake) was 49th in the 1500-meter run in 5:37.34, while sophomore Claire Koehler (Baltimore, MD/The Learning Community) came in 52nd in 5:43.53 and junior Nichole Laskowski (Duluth, MN/East) finished 54th in 5:50.52.

Freshman John Criezis (Chicago, IL/Loyola) led the Blue Jay men by tying for 16th place with a pole vault of 12'0", while sophomore Ted Esborn (Cleveland, OH/St. Ignatius) was 23rd with a vault of 10'6".

Freshman Arun Jose (Commack, NY/Commack) finished 17th with a triple jump of 37'1.5", while sophomore John Stowe (Madison, WI/St. Paul's School) placed 17th in the shot put with a throw of 36'4.25". Freshman James Tang (Piedmont, CA/Piedmont) came in 25th in the 400-meter dash in 54.11, while freshman Sam Olesky (Warren, NJ/Newark Academy) finished 46th in the 500-meter run in 4:34.79.



The Blue Jays return to action Friday through Sunday when they compete in the Centennial Conference Championships in Swarthmore, PA.
