Waddell Places Third In Pole Vault At Shippensburg
April 26, 2009 SHIPPENSBURG, PA - The Johns Hopkins men's track & field team competed at the Shippensburg Invitational on Saturday as part of a final qualifier for the Centennial Conference Championships next weekend. Senior Adam Waddell brought home third in the pole vault for the top Hopkins finish on the day. Waddell used his 4.55 meter finish in the pole vault to claim third place in the event. Jonathan Walker placed sixth in the finals of the 200 meter run at 23.17, while Andrew Henry was the top Blue Jay in the 400 meter race at 53.77 (17th). Elliott Wehner placed ninth in the 800 meter run, clocking in at 1:59.98.Brandon Hahn and Derek Cheng finished back-to-back at seventh and eighth in the 1,500 meter. Han ran a 4:08.21, while Cheng finished in 4:08.83. Mickey Borsellino took 10th place in the 5,000 meter with a time of 18:00.00. Jacob Kramer earned 14th place with his 110 meter hurdle time of 16.71. Kramer placed eighth in the 400 meter hurdles at 58.14. Michael Yuan got fifth place in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at 10:04.25. Matt Stankiewicz placed 10th in the high jump with a 1.78 meter jump. Peter Li took ninth in the shot put after a 14.02 meter performance and ninth in the discus with a 40.24 meter throw. Ted Heron would lead the way for Hopkins in the javelin throw, placed 23rd at 45.14 meters. The Blue Jays will take the week to prepare for the Centennial Conference Championships, to be held at Franklin & Marshall on May 1-3.
