Johns Hopkins Competes at Widener Invite

Grant Mosser finished the 400m hurdles in third place.

CHESTER, PA- The Johns Hopkins men’s track & field team competed at the Widener Invite this weekend. The event was hosted by Widener University on Friday and Saturday.

Jesse Poore was the first Blue Jay to cross the finish line in the 400m race, doing so in 50.27 seconds. Two of Poore’s teammates, Zach Shelley and Daniel Camous finished less than a half second after him, completing the race in 50.55 and 50.60, respectively.

Dominic Yared and Sam Gottuso finished in fifth and sixth, respectively in the 800m run. Yared completed the race in 1:54.84, while Gottuso, finished less than two seconds later in 1:56.96.

The first Blue Jay to complete the 400m hurdles was Grant Mosser, who did so in third place at 56.70.

Alex Kossak recorded a 4.20m mark in the pole vault to highlight the Hopkins field athletes.

A contingent of Blue Jays will be in action this weekend at the McDaniel Twilight Meet and Penn Relays before the full squad travels to Dickinson for the Centennial Conference Championships in two weeks.
