Hopkins Competes at Messiah College Invitational

GRANTHAM, PA - The Johns Hopkins men's track and field team finished fifth in the Messiah College Invitational on Saturday. The Blue Jays finished with 78.50 points on the day. Host Messiah won the meet with 128 points while Gettysburg was second with 127.50 points. Bridgewater and York finished third and fourth respectively with 99.50 points and 98.50 points.
Junior Tristan Thomas finished third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.14 to lead the Blue Jays on the day. Thomas also finished sixth in the 200-meter dash completing that race with a time of 22.95. Freshman Nate Sotuyo was fifth in the 800-meter run as he crossed the line with a time of 1:59.19.
Freshman Graham Belton was third in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:05.68 while junior James Bronson was fifth with a time of 4:06.84. Freshman Jordan Litner finished third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.77 while the 4x100 meter relay team finished third with a time of 43.79.
Matt Smith finished third in the high jump with a leap of 1.77m while Matt Trachtenberg was fourth in the pole vault with a leap of 3.96m. Peter Li was third in the shot put with a throw of 14.05m and sixth in the discus throw with a toss of 39.24m.
The Blue Jays are back in action on April 20th and 21st at the Widener Invitational.
