Waddell Earns NCAA Qualifying Mark At Liberty Invitational
April 5, 2009 DURHAM, N.C. - Senior Adam Waddell qualified for NCAA's in the decathlon as the Johns Hopkins men's track and field team competed at the Duke Invitational. Waddell recorded 6,258 points in the decathlon at the Liberty University Invitational. Waddell ran a 17.21 110 hurdles race before throwing the discus 31.89 meters. Waddell went on to pole vault 4.35 meters and toss the javelin 48.34 meters. He finished up in the 1,500 meter with his time of 5:00.92. Waddell finished seventh in a crowd of 13 in the decathlon. Meanwhile, the rest of the Blue Jays were in Durham, N.C. for the Duke Invitational. Freshman Brian Rooney placed 15th in the 5,000 meter in 15:38.52 and senior Dan Pike placed 22nd in the 10,000 at 32:41.01 for the Blue Jays. Jacob Kramer placed 13th in the 110 hurdles at 15.91. The men's 4x100 meter relay team placed sixth at 44.62. Hopkins wrapped up in the 400 meter run with Pierre Hage placing 14th in 51.75, Chris Tait placing 15th at 51.82 and Brahma Kumar coming in 17th in 52.83. The Blue Jays continue their season on Wednesday, April 8 for the first home meet on the new track built on Johns Hopkins' Eastern Campus. Come support the Blue Jays in their first home meet!
