RALEIGH, NC - Several members of the Johns Hopkins men's and women's track and field teams competed in the Raleigh Relays this past Friday and Saturday at North Carolina State University. The Blue Jays posted a number of quality marks against a strong field featuring many Division I schools.

Senior Kathy Darling (Milford, DE/Milford) continued her strong season as she placed seventh in the discus and 16th in the javelin. Darling was the only Division III performer to post a mark in either the discus or the javelin. She recorded a throw of 148'5" in the discus, her third-best mark of the season, and a mark of 129'2" in the javelin, her second-best throw of the year.

Freshman Ilolochika Emuh (Highland, CA/Redlands) competed for the women in the 100-meter hurdles and placed 77th with a time of 15.90. Her time was just .08 seconds off the school mark she set at the UMBC Invitational the previous weekend.

For the men, senior Quinlan Amos (Houston, TX) finished 63rd out of 146 competitors in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.12. Senior John Onofrey (Needham, MA/Needham) and freshman Nick Sousa (Foxboro, MA) both placed in the top 50 in a field of 78 in the 5,000-meter run. Onofrey was 25th with a season-best time of 15:40.08, while Sousa placed 47th with his best time of the season (16:09.28).

The men's 4x800-meter relay team also competed and was 31st with a time of 8:22.35.

The Blue Jays return to action Saturday as Hopkins travels to the University of Maryland for the Maryland Invitational.
