Hopkins Competes at the Towson invitational

TOWSON, MD - The Johns Hopkins men's track and field team opened its outdoor season with a strong showing at the Towson Invitational on Saturday. The meet was comprised of Division I and III teams from the surrounding area.
Sophomore Peter Li (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 13.76m in the finals. He followed that up with a ninth place showing in the discus with a toss of 38.64m. Fellow sophomore Adam Waddell (Altoona, PA/Altoona) tied for third in the pole vault with a leap of 4.26m. Senior Andrew Lewis (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) ran a 32:40.90 in the 10,000 meters to finish fifth. Lewis' time broke the school record in that event, a time that had stood since 1977.
The 4x800 relay team of Phillip Aiken (Bedford, MA/Bedford), Jason Hortiatis (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland), Jeffrey Neal (Cheshire, CT/Cheshire) and Noah Jampol (Waban, MA/Newton North) captured its event with a time of 8:24.40. The 4x100 relay team placed third with a time of 44.73. That relay team was composed of Tristan Thomas (Powder Springs, GA/John McEachern), Pierre Hage (Andover, MA/Andover), James Walker (Marietta, GA/George Walton Co.) and Jason Dubyoski (Upperco, MD/Hereford). The 4x400 relay team of Hage, Walker, Jonathan Walker (Tampa, FL/Hillsborough) and Dubyoski finished third with a time of 3:29.50.
The Blue Jays are back in action on March 31st at the Terrapin Invitational in College Park, MD.
