NEWPORT NEWS, VA - The Johns Hopkins men's indoor track team got eight individual top-five finishes at the two-day Christopher Newport Vince Brown Invitational.

In Friday's action, Hopkins got a fourth-place pole vault finish from Matt Trachtenberg, who cleared 4.11 meters. Chris Cotrell posted a fifth-place finish in the long jump, leaping 6.23 meters. The evening concluded with a second and third place showing the 5,000 meter event, as Patrick Brandon took the second-place spot with a time of 15:42.09, while Lewis's time of 15:53.45 was good for third place.

Saturday saw much of the same for the Blue Jays, as Shane Olaleye took third in the 400 meter run with a time of 51.37. Both relay teams finished strong, as the 4x400 team of Tai Kobayashi, Olaleye, Aaron Landgraf and Jason Dubyoski place second with a time of 3:30.01. The 4x800 team of Jason Hortiatis, Jeff Neal, James Bronson and Joe Lefkowitz claimed the top spot with a time of 8:21.26.

The freshman shot put record was broken on Saturday by Peter Li, with a throw of 13.36 meters, good for fifth place.
