HAVERFORD, PA - Junior Steve Tobochnik broke a six-year-old school record in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:44.81 to lead the Johns Hopkins men's indoor track team at Haverford's McElligott Invitational on Saturday. There was no team scoring at the invitational, which primarily included schools from the Mid.-Atlantic region.

Among the highlights for the Blue Jays:

• In a 37-man field loaded with strong runners from the region, Tobochnik went out with the lead pack and clocked a 4:37 in the first mile. He was particularly strong down the stretch as he picked off several runners over the final 600 meters to earn his fourth-place finish with the school-record time of 8:44.81. JHU's previous school record in the 3,000 was 8:46.92 by John Onofrey in 2003.

• Junior Ryan Lino, the 2009 Centennial Conference outdoor champion in the shot put, was the top collegiate finisher in the shot with a throw of 46'-8.25". He placed second overall, while teammate Luke Sand added a throw of over 40-feet as well as he placed sixth with a throw of 42'-4.75".

• Kurt Scanameo placed fourth in the pole vault (12'11.75").

• The 4x400-meter relay team placed second, while the 4x200-meter relay team placed third.

• A trio of runners placed in the top seven in the 55-meter dash as Chris Tait (5th • 6.87), John Bartolotta (6th • 6.88) and Traci Dutton (7th • 6.94) were all among the leaders in the 25-man field.
