Johns Hopkins Competes at DuCharme Relays Jan. 21, 2002
CARLISLE, PA - The Johns Hopkins men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed in the DuCharme Relays at Dickinson College on Saturday. Hopkins brought only a partial squad, but there were several quality individual performances on the day.
The most outstanding running performances were turned in by the team's leading sprinters, Quinlan Amos and Jessica Bylander. Amos and Bylander led off two relays with excellent early season performances. Running 200-meter legs to lead off both the sprint medley relay and 4x200 meter relay, Amos twice recorded a time of 23.8. In the same relays on the women's side, Bylander recorded times of 28.5 and 28.9, respectively.
The Hopkins shot putters were second in the shot put relay as Ryan Holak and Moky Cheung both exceeded 38 feet with their throws. Holak and Cheung threw 38'4-3/4" and 38'1/4" respectively. Jackie Evans finished second overall in the women's shot put with a mark of 33'1/4".
ChiChi Ogbonna took second place in the 55-meter high hurdles with a time of 10.2 seconds and Brian Nichols claimed second in the pole vault with a mark of 13'. Nichols also ran the 55-meter high hurdles in 9.40 seconds, but did not place.
The Blue Jays will return to action on Friday, January 25 and Saturday, January 26 at Christopher Newport in Newport News, Virginia.
