College Park, MD - The Johns Hopkins men's and women's indoor track team competed at the Maryland Terrapin Invitational on January 16. The women finished sixth out of 13 teams with 39 points and the men finished 10th out of 19 teams with 15 points. The highlight of the meet was the women's 3,000 meter run, where the Blue Jays placed five runners in the top 13.
Senior Laura Paulsen was the top collegiate runner and second overall in the women's 3,000 meter run with a personal-best time of 10:15.32. Freshman Liz Provost also ran a personal-best and finished fourth for collegiate runners with a time of 10:34.77 and sophomore Cecilia Furlong ran a time of 10:38.60 for a sixth-place finish. These three finishes combined for 18 of the team's 39 total points.
Provost was awarded the women's athlete of the meet by the Johns Hopkins coaching staff.
The Blue Jays finished fourth in the women's distance medley with a time of 12:36.76.
Freshman Emily Kashka finished second in the women's pole vault with a height of 2.90 meters and freshman Tracey Vill finished sixth with a height of 2.75 meters.
The men's distance medley team finished third with a time of 10:50.34 to earn six points.
Graduate Student Matt Trachtenberg finished fourth in the pole vault with a height of 4.27 meters. Trachtenberg was named the men's athlete of meet by the Johns Hopkins coaches.
