BLOOMINGTON, IN - Rising sophomore Warren Elgort (New York, NY/Trinity School) competed at the 2009 ITA National Summer Championship presented by the USTA and hosted by Indiana University August 8-12. Elgort advanced to the second round in both the singles and doubles draws. Of the 110 players in the men's draw, only 16 hailed from Division III, junior college or high school. Elgort was one of just six of those to advance out of the first round.

Elgort matched up against rising sophomore Jim Capalbo of Western Illinois in the first round. Elgort dropped just two games in advancing to a second round match-up with Alex Van Gils, a rising freshman at Indiana. Van Gils defeated Elgort 6-1, 6-2. In doubles action, Elgort paired up Jonathan Wolff, a rising junior at Wake Forest University. The pair won its first round match, 9-8 over Shaun Bussert and Jon Wegener of Ball State University. The pair was then matched up against top-seeded Adam Baker and Alex Zotov of Vanderbilt. Elgort and Wolff dropped an 8-2 decision to Baker and Zotov, who advanced to the semifinals.

Elgort went 18-8 in singles in his rookie season with the Blue Jays, playing predominantly in the #3 spot. In doubles, he posted an 18-4 record, pairing mostly with junior Ryan Rauck (Columbus, OH/Bexley).
