Maldow Named ITA All-American for Fourth Straight Year

BALTIMORE, MD - Johns Hopkins men's tennis player David Maldow (Jericho, NY/Jericho) capped his standout career by earning All-America honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) in singles for the fourth straight year. A four-time All-American in singles, he also earned All-America honors in doubles in 2009. Maldow guided Johns Hopkins to a school-record 21 wins, a fourth straight Centennial Conference title and the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2010. He finished the season with a 20-8 singles mark (5-0 in conference) and a 16-13 doubles record (6-0) and was named the Centennial Conference Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. He also earned First Team All-Centennial Conference honors in both singles and doubles and was named the ITA Atlantic South Senior Player of the Year. Maldow is ranked 13th nationally and fourth in the Atlantic South in singles and 13th nationally and third regionally in doubles by the ITA. He advanced to the finals of the 2009 ITA Regional Championship in singles and was selected to the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship this season. For his career, Maldow went 80-25 (.762) in singles, including a 26-2 mark in the conference and 68-34 (.667) in doubles (25-2 in conference). He finished his career with a combined record of 148-59 (.715). Maldow holds 13 school records outright, including matches played, singles wins, doubles wins and total wins for a career. He also shares three other records. The most decorated school player in school history, he is a seven-time All-Centennial Conference selection as well as the 2007 ITA Atlantic South Rookie of the Year and the 2008 ITA Atlantic South and National Player to Watch. Maldow is a four-time selection to the NCAA Singles Championship as well as a three-time pick for the Doubles Championship. He also made the finals of the ITA Regional Championship in singles three times (2006, 2008, 2009) and was also a semifinalist in 2007. Maldow partnered with Andrew Wang (Sparta, NJ/Sparta) to win the 2008 ITA Regional Doubles title.
