BALTIMORE, MD -- The 17th-ranked Johns Hopkins men's tennis team will host a 2017 NCAA Regional this weekend at the JHU Tennis Courts. Hopkins will host fifth-ranked Wesleyan, John Carroll, Goucher, 30th-ranked Christopher Newport and Franciscan.
Hopkins is making its 12th straight NCAA Tournament appearance after winning its 11th consecutive Centennial Conference title on Sunday. The Blue Jays (16-2) earned a first-round bye ninth time in the last 10 years. JHU is 15-11 all-time in the NCAAs with nine Sweet 16 appearances and four quarterfinal trips. The Blue Jays are hosting an NCAA Regional for just the third time and first since 2012.
Hopkins will face the winner of Christopher Newport (14-9) and Franciscan (10-10). Wesleyan will take on the winner of John Carroll (16-7) and Goucher (15-10) in the second round. JHU is 4-1 all-time against Christopher Newport, including an 8-1 win earlier this year in Baltimore. Hopkins has never faced Wesleyan, John Carroll, or Franciscan.
