Maldow Named Centennial Conference Player of the Week
March 2, 2010
LANCASTER, PA - Johns Hopkins senior David Maldow (Jericho, NY/Jericho) has been named the Centennial Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office this afternoon. Maldow led Johns Hopkins to a fifth-place finish at the ITA National Indoor Team Championships two weeks ago with wins over #12 DePauw and #9 Carnegie Mellon. He won in straight sets at #1 against DePauw and rallied to win in three sets at #1 against Carnegie Mellon. His only loss, against Washington Univ., came against the number one ranked singles player in the country. In doubles, he and junior Andrew Wang (Sparta, NJ/Sparta) went 1-2 with their win coming against the sixth-ranked doubles pair from Carnegie Mellon. Maldow is the winningest player in Johns Hopkins history in both singles wins (68) and total wins (121). A four-time ITA All-American, he was named the Centennial Conference Player of the Year in 2009 after leading the Blue Jays to their third straight Centennial Conference title. Hopkins will return to action on March 15 as the Blue Jays travel to St. Augustine, FL to take on Division II Flagler.
