MOBILE, AL - Johns Hopkins men's tennis junior Andy Hersh finished in fourth place at the 2011 ITA National Small College Championship on Saturday. Hersh earned his bid to the championship by winning the ITA Southeast Regional becoming the first player in program history to do so.

Hersh faced top-seeded Dillon Pottish (Emory) in the semifinals on Friday, falling 6-2, 6-2, to the eventual champion and 2011 NCAA runner-up. He then took on second-seeded Alex Lane (Claremont-Mudd-Scripps) in the third-place match on Saturday morning. Lane, who was upset in the semifinals, won 6-3, 6-2. Hersh finishes the fall season with a 9-3 record. He now has 54 career singles wins, which ties him for third in school history with senior Warren Elgort.

Hopkins returns to action on February 18 when the Blue Jays play Washington & Lee at the Green Spring Racket Club.
