BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins men's tennis team hosted Amherst on Saturday in its only dual meet of the fall schedule. The Blue Jays (0-1) dropped the match 6-3 to the Lord Jeffs (1-0).

The Lord Jeffs took an early 2-1 lead in the match by winning two of three doubles matches. For the Blue Jays, sophomore Casey Blythe (Louisville, KY/Saint Xavier) and freshman Jacob Barnaby (Phoenix, AZ/Desert Vista) picked up the lone doubles point with an 8-6 win at second over Daniel Kim and Andrew Jung.

In singles action, JHU picked up wins at second and sixth. Sophomore Andrew Wang (Sparta, NJ/Sparta) won 6-2, 6-1 at second over Mortiz Koenig, improving to 6-2 on the season. And at sixth, freshman Orlando Ferrer (Naples, FL/Bradenton Preparatory Academy) won 6-3, 6-3 over Kim and is now 8-2 on the season.

Hopkins returns to dual meet action on March 13 when the Blue Jays visit the Flagler Saints. While, junior David Maldow (Jericho, NY/Jericho) and Wang will travel to Mobile, AL this week for the ITA National Small College Championship. The doubles pair won the ITA Southeast Regional title to advance to Mobile. They will take on second-seeded Amrit Rupasinghe and Ben Stein of Bates in the first round. That match is scheduled to start at 1:00 pm (CST) at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center.
