Barnaby and Elgort Fall in Three in NCAA Semifinals
May 26, 2012 CARY, NC - The Johns Hopkins senior duo of Jacob Barnaby and Warren Elgort lost in a three-set thriller on Saturday morning in the semifinals of the NCAA Doubles Championship at the Cary Tennis Center. The pair finishes the season with a record of 12-7 in doubles and All-America honors. Barnaby also finishes as the all-time leader in doubles wins in Johns Hopkins' tennis history, male or female, with 91. Barnaby and Elgort won a tight first set, 7-6 (5), over Luis Rattenhuber and Austin Chafetz of Amherst. The duo from Amherst got one break in the second set and held on for a 6-4 win to force a third and deciding set. The third set went much the same way, with the teams trading a couple of breaks. Rattenhuber and Chafetz led 5-4 on the changeover with Barnaby serving coming out of the break. The pair from Amherst was able to break serve to take the set and the match. Rattenhuber and Chafetz would go on to win the NCAA Doubles Championship in three sets.
