April 23, 2005

BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins men's tennis team made history on Saturday when it clinched its first Centennial Conference regular-season men's tennis championship with a 5-2 win over Dickinson. The Blue Jays finished their season 13-2 overall and 8-0 in the conference, becoming the only team besides Washington Conference to go undefeated in the conference and to win the CC crown. Dickinson dropped to 11-6 overall and 4-3 in the conference.

Washington College had won the previous 11 conference championships, but Hopkins handed the Shoremen their first-ever CC loss, 4-3, earlier this year.

The Centennial Conference tournament is scheduled for April 29 through May 1 at Swarthmore and Haverford. For more information, visit www.centennial.org.
