Blue Jays Edge Dickinson, 4-3, In Men's Tennis

Carlisle, PA - The Johns Hopkins men's tennis team edged Dickinson, 4-3, Saturday afternoon to win its fourth straight match. The Blue Jays improved to 4-5 overall and 4-3 in the Centennial Conference with the win, while the Red Devils dropped to 13-3 overall and 4-3 in league play. Hopkins took the doubles point as freshman Nick Kennedy (Tucson, AZ/Deerfield Academy) and sophomore Krishna Potarazu (Potomac, MD/Wootton) defeated Chris Beegle and Rob Isaacs 8-3 at No. 2, while senior Grant Roch (Cedarburg, WI/Cedarburg) and sophomore Michael Kelly-Sell (Ann Arbor, MI/Pioneer) edged Zack Beck-Goss and Jackson Pamenter 9-8 (3) at No. 3. Chris Magel and Eric Schneider defeated junior Justin Belisario (Los Angeles, CA/Loyola) and senior Justin Chan (Mountain Lakes, NJ/Mountain Lakes) 8-5 at No. 1 doubles for the Red Devils. Dickinson won the first two singles points, as Magel defeated Chan 7-6 (8), 2-6, 6-1 at No. 1 while Rob Dickinson also needed three sets to knock off Belisario 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2. However Potarazu topped Isaacs 6-3, 7-6 (1) at No. 3 and Kelly-Sell outlasted Beegle 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 at No. 4 as the Blue Jays took the next two singles points. Beck-Goss defeated Roch 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5, but Hopkins earned the victory when Kennedy topped Matt Makawski 6-2, 5-2 ret. at No. 6 singles. The Blue Jays host Muhlenberg Sunday at 12 noon.
