Baltimore, MD - The Johns Hopkins men's tennis team picked up its first win of the season with a 6-1 victory over Gettysburg Wednesday afternoon.

The Blue Jays improved to 1-5 overall and 1-3 in the Centennial Conference with the win, while the Bullets fell to 0-7 overall and 0-5 in league play.

Senior Justin Chan (Mountain Lakes, NJ/Mountain Lakes) and junior Justin Belisario (Los Angeles, CA/Loyola) defeated Hans Hardisty and Andrew Smith 8-6 at No. 1 doubles, while sophomore Michael Kelly-Sell (Ann Arbor, MI/Pioneer) and senior Grant Roch (Cedarburg, WI/Cedarburg) topped Foster Post and John Pitel 8-1 at No. 2 as the Blue Jays took the doubles point. Freshman Andrew Chang (Norato, CA/San Francisco University) and senior Aaron Ong (Florence, KY/Boone County) posted an 8-1 win over Cory Chamberlain and Robert Szymanski 8-1 at No. 3.

Hardisty defeated Chan 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, but the Blue Jays took the other five singles points to earn the victory. Belisario topped Post 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2, while Kelly-Sell defeated Smith 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3. Roch needed three sets to defeat Szymanski 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4, freshman Nick Kennedy (Tucson, AZ/Deerfield Academy) topped Chamberlain 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5, and Chang shut out Masahiro Kuroda 8-0 in a pro set at No. 6.

Hopkins travels to Ursinus Monday for a 3 p.m. match with the Bears.
