EWING, NJ - No. 32 ranked The College of New Jersey picked up a 5-2 home win over Johns Hopkins University on Sunday afternoon. TCNJ improves to 5-2, while JHU drops to 3-5.

At first doubles, sophomore Joe Vasoontara (Bangkok, Thailand/Loomis Chaffee) and junior Hillen Smith (Baltimore, MD/Boys Latin School of Maryland) picked up their second straight win. The duo beat Justin Cook and Ryan Carty 8-1. Roger Mosteller and Michael Klimchak came back at No. 2 doubles after trailing 5-2 to collect an 8-5 win over Hopkins' junior Nick Kennedy (Tucson, AZ/Deerfield Academy) and sophomore Rafael Roberti (Summit, NJ/Summit). The Lions took the doubles point with a win at third doubles. Corey Ball and Eric Ferriere defeated sophomore Matt Naftilan (Nashville, TN/Montgomery Bell Academy) and senior Michael Kelly-Sell (Ann Arbor, MI/Pioneer) 8-2.

Carty was victorious at No. 1 singles with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Vasoontara. Smith earned a 7-6, 6-1 win over Mayer at second singles to pick up a point for Hopkins. Mosteller defeated Roberti at third singles by the score of 6-1, 7-6 (5) to earn the Lions' third point of the match. Sophomore Kevin Ma (Parkville, MO/Park Hill South) got one back for the Jays' though with a win at fourth singles. He beat Cook 0-6, 6-0, 7-5. But TCNJ went on to win at fifth and sixth singles to take home the 5-2 win. Ferriere remains perfect in dual singles play after a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles, besting freshman Lawrence Wei (Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell). Ball defeated Naftilan 7-6 (4), 6-1 for the Lions.
 

 

Hopkins returns to action on Wednesday, April 5 against Gettysburg.
