Towson, MD - The Goucher men's tennis team kept Hopkins winless with a 5-2 victory over the Blue Jays Sunday afternoon.

The Gophers improved to 11-3 with the victory, while Hopkins fell to 0-5.

Goucher took the doubles point by winning the No. 1 and No. 2 matches. Andrew Danos and David Sands defeated senior Justin Chan (Mountain Lakes, NJ/Mountain Lakes) and junior Justin Belisario (Los Angeles, CA/Loyola) 8-5 at No. 1, while Brandon Harris and Devin Visciano topped senior Grant Roch (Cedarburg, WI/Cedarburg) and sophomore Michael Kelly-Sell (Ann Arbor, MI/Pioneer) 8-5 at No. 2. Senior Aaron Ong (Florence, KY/Boone County) and freshman Andrew Chang (Norato, CA/San Francisco University) won the No. 3 doubles match for the Blue Jays as they knocked off Josh Sofer and David Vermeire 8-2 at No. 3.

Freshman Nick Kennedy (Tucson, AZ/Deerfield Academy) posted a 6-1, 6-0 win over Sofer at No. 5 singles, while Chang was other singles winner for Hopkins as he cruised past Vermeire 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6. Danos defeated Chan 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1, while Harris posted a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Belisario at No. 2 for the Gophers. Sands needed three sets to record a 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 win over Kelly-Sell at No. 3, and Visciano knocked off Roch 7-6 (2), 0-6, 6-2 at No. 4.

The Blue Jays travel to Ursinus Thursday for a 3 p.m. Centennial Conference match with the Bears.
