ALLENTOWN, PA - The 17th-ranked Johns Hopkins men's tennis team shut out host Muhlenberg, 9-0, in both teams Centennial Conference opener on Saturday. The Blue Jays evened their record at 3-3 overall, while the Mules slip to 2-2. Hopkins improves to 12-1 all-time against Muhlenberg with its sixth straight win in the series.

Hopkins, winners of 21 consecutive conference matches, opened the match by sweeping all three doubles matches to take an early 3-0 lead. At first, freshman Warren Elgort (New York, NY/Trinity School) and junior Peter Vale (Haverford, PA/Episcopal Academy) won 8-5 over Zach Adler and Jordan Rutt. At second, sophomore Andrew Wang (Sparta, NJ/Sparta) and senior co-captain Tripp Weber (Blue Bell, PA/Germantown Academy) blanked Brian Wernick and Yoni Farber, 8-0. And at third, freshman Jacob Barnaby (Phoenix, AZ/Desert Vista) and sophomore Jake Schneiders (Englewood, CO/Cherry Creek) won 8-1 over Matt Kral and Michael Robbins.

In singles action, the Blue Jays swept all six matches in straight sets. Wang, playing at first, dropped just one game in picking up his 30th career win. At second, Elgort beat Adler, 6-0, 6-2. Vale dropped just one game in beating Wernick at third. Barnaby won at fourth, with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Farber. At fifth, Schneiders won by the same score, beating Wayne Mitchel. And at sixth, Weber won 6-1, 6-2 over Rutt.

Hopkins returns to action on Wednesday, April 1 as the Blue Jays travel to Carlisle, PA to take on the Dickson Red Devils. The Centennial Conference match is slated to begin at 3:30 pm.
