Blue Jay Men's Tennis Falls At Haverford, 5-2

Haverford, PA - The Johns Hopkins men's tennis team opened its 2004 spring season by dropping a 5-2 decision to Haverford Saturday afternoon. The Fords took the doubles point, as Carl Lederman and Elmar Trust defeated senior Justin Chan (Mountain Lakes, NJ/Mountain Lakes) and junior Justin Belisario (Los Angeles, CA/Loyola) 8-6 at No. 1 while Harrison Lee and Aaron Scherb topped sophomore Krishna Potarazu (Potomac, MD/Wooton) and freshman Nick Kennedy (Tucson, AZ/Deerfield Academy) 8-4 at No. 2. Senior Grant Roch (Cedarburg, WI/Cedarburg) and sophomore Michael Kelly-Sell (Ann Arbor, MI/Pioneer) defeated Curtis Fentress and Matt Stein 8-4 at No. 3 for Hopkins. Kelly-Sell posted a 6-1, 6-0 win over Randolph Moon at No. 4 singles while Kennedy recorded a 7-6 (4), 6-1 victory over Stein at No. 6 for the Blue Jays' two points. Lederman bested Chan 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while Scherb topped Belisario 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 for Haverford. Trust defeated Potarazu 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3, and Lee posted a 6-1, 6-4 win over Roch at No. 5. The Blue Jays, whose match Friday with Ursinus was postponed, travel to Washington College Tuesday for a 3 p.m. match with the Shoremen. Haverford def.
