Jamie Engles begins his first season as the head coach of the Johns Hopkins men's tennis team after spending a year as an assistant coach with the Blue Jays. In his first season at Homewood, he helped the team to win its fifth consecutive Centennial Conference title and a trip to the NCAA Sweet 16.

Engles has spent the past six years working as the Assistant Director of the Nike Tennis Camps at Salisbury University where he designed and implemented training programs for tournament-level juniors in the Mid-Atlantic area. He is also currently working as a teaching professional at the Green Spring Racquet Club, coaching some of the top junior talent in the Baltimore area. Engles is a math teacher at Eastern Technical High School, where he also served as the head tennis coach from 2006 to 2010.

Engles was a four-year letter winner on the Salisbury University men's tennis team and he played as high as fourth singles and second doubles for the Sea Gulls. He earned Second Team All-CAC honors in 2003 for singles and second team honors for doubles in 2004. Engles graduated in 2005 with a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics and Secondary Education. He went on to earn a Masters of Science in Mathematics Education from Towson University in 2010 and is currently pursuing a Masters of Science in Applied and Computational Mathematics from Johns Hopkins University.
