Midway through the 2005-06 season, 16 men and six women on the Johns Hopkins swimming team have earned NCAA A or B cut times and two school records have been broken.
Sophomore Ryan Kim broke the 200 backstroke record with a first-place finish of 1:50.22 at the Miami Invitational last weekend, passing the previous school-best time of 1:50.47 held by J.P. Balfour. Senior Tyler Harris set the school record in the 100 breaststroke during the Miami Invitational prelims, when he finished at 56.80 to top Scott Pitz's time of 56.91. Harris placed fifth in the event finals.
Along with Kim and Harris, other Blue Jay men to qualify for the NCAAs are Sean Kim, Zane Hamilton, Gary Itskovich, Brian Sneed, Rich Guerard, Kevin Walsh, David Strickland, Keith Parent, Bradley Test, Matt Fedderly, Colin Kleinguetl, Robert Sershon, Kyle Foust, and John Kegelman.
The women qualifiers are

Erica Pakkala,
Allie Foster,
Kelly Robinson,
Katie Herbst, and
Kalei Walker.
The NCAA Championships are scheduled for March 9-11 (women's) and March 16-18 (men's) in Minneapolis.
