BALTIMORE, MD -- Johns Hopkins sophomore Brandon Fabian has been named the CollegeSwimming.com Division III National Swimmer of the Week after his performance at Princeton's Big Al Open over the weekend. This is his second honor this season from CollegeSwimming.com and first as National Swimmer of the Week.
Fabian earned four top-eight finishes, including a pair of top-three, at the Big Al Open to help Hopkins to a fourth-place finish. He opened the meet as the leadoff leg on the 200 Free Relay team that finished in sixth place (1:21.83). He then finished in eighth place in the 500 Free with a time of 4:35.15.
On day two of the meet, Fabian grabbed second place in the 200 Free as she touched in 1:37.41, the ninth fastest time in program history. He then swam the anchor leg of the 800 Free Relay that placed seventh in 6:42.44. He opened the final day of the meet with a third-place finish (44.29) in the 100 Free and he just missed the school record by one-hundredth of a second. Fabian ended the meet as the anchor leg of the 400 Free Relay that took fifth place in 3:00.46.
Fabian boasts some of the top times in the nation this season. He ranks first in the 200 Free (1:37.41), third in the 100 Free (44.29) and seventh in the 500 Free (4:28.79). He is also a member of the 200 Free, 400 Free and 800 Free relays that rank in the top six.
