BALTIMORE, MD - For the second time in his career, Johns Hopkins junior John Thomas (Montrose, CO/Montrose) has been named the National Collegiate Swimmer of the Week. Thomas swept the backstroke events in a dual meet at Maryland last Friday.
Thomas won the 100 Back in 52.25 and the 200 Back in 1:55.33. He also assisted on the second place finish for the 200 Medley Relay team (1:36.09) and the first place finish for the 200 Free Relay team (1:26.35). A 13-time All-American, Thomas is the reigning NCAA Champion in the 200 Back. He holds school records in the 100 and 200 Back, as well as the 200 and 400 Free Relays and the 200 and 400 Medley Relays.
Hopkins (0-2) returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 1 as Franklin & Marshall visits Baltimore. The meet is slated for an 11:00 am start in the Newton White Athletic Center.
