Baltimore, MD - Johns Hopkins senior swimmer Scott Pitz (Paoli, PA/Conestoga) was named to the 2004 CoSIDA Academic All-America College Division District II Spring At-Large Team announced Wednesday.

Pitz set school records this season by swimming the 100 breaststroke in 56.91 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:02.32. At the 2004 NCAA Division III Championships he placed third in the 200 breaststroke and 10th in the 100 breaststroke, and was 13th in the 200 individual medley in 1:54.28. Pitz swam the second leg for both the 400 medley team that placed fourth in 3:23.35 and the 200 medley relay team that came in 11th in 1:34.42.

Pitz led the Blue Jays to a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Championships with 229.5 points, as Hopkins finished in the top five for the fifth straight year.

Pitz, who majored in earth and planetary sciences and graduated with a 3.72 grade point average, was a Provost Undergraduate Research Award recipient this year.

Pitz will be included on the national ballot, with the national team announced on Tuesday, June 15.

The District II College Division consists of all non-NCAA Division I colleges and universities in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
