BALTIMORE, MD - Johns Hopkins men's swimming senior Matt Fedderly (Baltimore, MD/McDonogh School) earned CoSIDA ESPN The Magazine First Team Academic All-District honors for the second consecutive season for District II. The senior is a computer science major with a 3.34 GPA.
As a first team selection, Fedderly will now be included on the Academic All-America ballot, scheduled to be released June 10. The District II region includes Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. To be nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.2 or higher cumulative grade point average and be a starter or significant reserve.
Fedderly captained the Blue Jays this season to a runner-up finish at the 2008 NCAA Championships. He earned All-America honors in six events at the 2008 championships, bringing his career total to 14 All-America honors. That is tied for 18th most in school history. Fedderly holds JHU records in the 100 Breast (56.23), 200 Free Relay (1:21.80), 200 Medley Relay (1:30.32) and 400 Medley Relay (3:18.43).
A member of the 2007 NCAA Champion 400 Medley Relay team, Fedderly is the President of Sigma Chi Fraternity and a member of the Order of Omega. He is a Dean's List student and has interned with Blackbird Technologies.
