Wang and Wohl Named National Swimmers of the Week
BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins junior Michael Wohl and sophomore Michelle Wang have been named the men’s and women’s Division III Swimmers of the Week by CollegeSwimming.com for their performances at the Janis Hape Dowd Nike Invitational. In addition, senior Anna Wisniewski has been named the Independent Swimmer of the Week.
Wohl opened the meet with a second-place finish and a personal best (20.73) in the 50 Free. He then finished fourth in the 100 Free and recorded another personal best (45.27). Wang kicked off the weekend with a personal best 24.27 lead-off leg of the 200 Free Relay. Just a few minutes later, she turned in a personal best, as well as an NCAA B cut, in the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.40. On day two, Wang recorded her third personal best swim of the weekend with a 1:53.03 in the 200 Free. She wrapped up her weekend with a second-place finish and personal best time (2:03.99) in the 200 Back.
Wisniewski led off the weekend by leading off the winning 200 Free Relay that posted an NCAA B cut in 1:33.68. She followed that with an NCAA B cut in the 200 IM with a time of 2:05.29. On Saturday, Wisniewski grabbed second place and another NCAA B cut as she clocked in at 55.66 in the 100 Fly. She also placed second in the 100 Free (51.99) and led off the 400 Free Relay that placed second (3:30.73).
