GETTYSBURG, PA - The Johns Hopkins men's swim team turned in an impressive performance at the Gettysburg Final Fall Fast Festival, winning 17 of 18 events and breaking 13 pools records while accumulating 1,150 points. The Blue Jays also posted three NCAA automatic qualifying times and 28 NCAA provisional times. Host Gettysburg finished in second place with 841.5 points.

Freshman Dylan Davis opened the meet with a win in the 200 Back, with a pool record and automatic qualifying time of 1:49.17. It is also the seventh fastest time in school history. Sophomore Joe Acquaviva followed in second with a time of 1:50.60, a career best and provisional time. The Blue Jays then swept the top three times in the 100 Free, led by junior Dylan Coggin, who tied the school record with a swim of 44.64. It was also an automatic qualifying time and a pool record. Sophomore Anthony Lordi took second with a career-best and provisional time of 45.75. Sophomore Will Kimball placed third in 46.15, also a career best.

Senior Tim Nam won the 200 Breast with the sixth fastest time in school history and pool-record time of 2:03.01. It was also a provisional time and a career-best. Sophomore Alex Polyak followed in second place with a career-best and provisional time of 2:06.43. Junior Nick Schmidt won the 200 Fly, as he touched in 1:50.97, the sixth fastest time in school history, a pool record and a provisional time. Senior Stephen Niemiec placed third with a time of 1:56.35. Junior Alec Contag added another win with a first-place finish in the 1650 Free as he clocked in with a career-best time of 16:46.49. Hopkins wrapped up the first session with a win in the 400 Free Relay with a pool record time of 3:01.44. Junior Tyler Woods, Coggin, Acquaviva and Lordi swam the relay and posted the third fastest time in school history, also a provisional time.

Hopkins opened the second session by taking first and second in the 200 Medley Relay. Acquaviva, Nam, junior Carter Gisriel and Lordi won the relay with a pool record time of 1:31.54. It is the eighth fastest time in school history and a provisional time. The team of Davis, Polyak, Woods and Coggin swam the relay in 1:33.55 to finish second. In the 400 IM, freshman Ryan Cunningham swam a provisional time of 4:05.39 to finish in second. Senior Markus Kowalsky followed in third place with a time of 4:07.96. In the 100 Fly, Schmidt and Gisriel finished one-two. Schmidt took the top spot with a provisional time of 49.65, while Gisriel touched in 50.07, also a provisional time, for second place.

Lordi added another pool record to the Blue Jays' collection when he won the 200 Free with a provisional time of 1:39.57, the fourth fastest time in school history. Kimball followed in second, touching in 1:40.69, a career-best and provisional time. In the 100 Breast, Hopkins swept the top four spots to pick up 68 points in the standings. Nam led the way with a pool-record and provisional time of 57.56. Acquaviva placed second in 57.94, followed by Polyak in third (58.20) and freshman Gideon Hou in fourth (59.18).

Davis then won the 100 Back as he touched in a career-best and provisional time of 51.05. Coggin followed in second place, also posting a career-best and provisional time, clocking in at 51.33. Hopkins closed out the second session with a win in the 800 Free Relay. Coggin, Kimball, Schmidt and Lordi swam a time of 6:41.48 - the third fastest time in school history, a pool record and an automatic qualifying time. Coggin's opening leg of 1:40.42 was also a provisional time.

Hopkins opened the third session the same way it ended the second, by winning a relay. Coggin, Gisriel, Woods and Lordi swam a time of 1:22.25 to win the 200 Free Relay. It was a pool record, a provisional time and the fifth fastest time in school history. In addition, Coggin's opening leg of 20.87 was a career best and a provisional time. Schmidt then led a contingent of three Blue Jays that swept the top three spots in the 500 Free. Schmidt took first with a pool record and provisional time of 4:35.00. Kimball followed in second with a time of 4:36.44, also a provisional time, while Kowalsky took third in 4:44.40.

Acquaviva won the 200 IM, clocking in at 1:54.20 for a pool record, career best and provisional time. Nam followed with a second-place finish, touching in 1:54.83, also a career best. In the 50 Free, Gisriel finished in 20.81 to win the event and just beat out Coggin, who touched in 20.83. Both were provisional times. The Blue Jays wrapped up the weekend by placing first and second in the 400 Medley Relay. The team of Acquaviva, Nam, Schmidt and Lordi won the relay with a pool record and provisional time of 3:22.75. Davis, Polyak, Gisriel and Woods also posted a provisional time, finishing in second with a time of 3:24.10. Both Acquaviva (51.44) and Davis (50.88) posted provisional times in their opening legs of the relay.

Hopkins is idle for the semester break and will return to action on January 13-14, 2012 at West Chester.
