LANCASTER, PA - The Johns Hopkins men's swim team (1-2) competed against its first Division III opponent of the season and earned a 145-110 win over host Franklin & Marshall (0-1). The Blue Jays won the first 10 events, with eight different swimmers earning individual wins.

Hopkins opened the meet by taking first and second in the 200 Medley Relay. The "B" team won the event, with freshman Brian Keeley (Rockford, MI/Rockford), senior Matt Fedderly (Baltimore, MD/McDonogh), junior Bob Sershon (Chicago, IL/St. Patrick) and sophomore Teddy Bulakul (Bangakok, Thailand/Hotchkiss) finished in 1:38.53. In the 400 IM, the Blue Jays swept the top four spots, led by Fedderly's time of 4:16.47. Junior Colin Kleinguetl (Kingwood, TX/Kingwood) came in second (4:16.73), followed by sophomore Neil Mahoney (Minneapolis, MN/Minnetonka) in third (4:21.61) and freshman Jonathan Pool (Gaithersburg, MD/Georgetown Prep) in fourth (4:22.09).

The Blue Jays once again swept the top four spots, this time in the 200 Free. Senior Brad Test (Dresher, PA/Germantown Academy) led the way with a time of 1:45.34. He was followed by sophomore John Thomas (Montrose, CO/Montrose) (1:47.79), junior David Postetter (Kenmore, WA/Inglemoor) (1:48.25) and Bulakul (1:49.76). The wins continued as junior John Kegelman (Yorktown, VA/Tabb) and Thomas took first and second respectively in the 50 Back with times of 26.01 and 26.20. Keeley then won his first individual event of the day, taking first in the 50 Breast with a time of 27.82. Sershon followed that with a win in the 100 Fly (53.22). Sophomore AJ Blood (McClean, VA/Sidwell Friends) and Keeley combined for a one-two finish in the 50 Free, while Bulakul earned a win in the 100 Free (49.10).
 

 

In the 100 Back, Keeley got his second win of the day, taking first in a time of 55.80. Mahoney followed that with a win in the 100 Breast (1:01.38). Pool followed Mahoney in second with a time of 1:02.02. Hopkins swam exhibitions in the final four events of the meet.

Hopkins returns to action at the Thomas Murphy Invitational at Loyola College, November 9-10. In addition to Johns Hopkins and Loyola, VMI and Howard are also competing at the invitational.
