St. Peters, MO - Johns Hopkins remained in fifth place with 143 points following the second day of the NCAA Division III Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at the St. Peters Rec-Plex.

The Blue Jay 200 medley relay team of junior J.P. Balfour (Plano, TX/Plano East), senior Scott Pitz (Paoli, PA/Conestoga), senior Matt McKee (Rocky River, OH/St. Edward) and sophomore Tyler Harris (Lancaster, OH/Lancaster) opened Friday by finishing 11th in its event in 1:34.42.

Junior Jon Kleinman (North Oaks, MN/Mounds View) then placed 12th in the 400 individual medley in 4:03.36, while senior Kyle Robinson (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional) followed by finishing 14th in the 200 freestyle in 1:42.75. Harris was seventh in the 100 breaststroke in 57.11, while Pitz placed 10th in the event in 56.91.

Balfour finished 11th in the 100 backstroke in 51.80, and the 800 freestyle relay team of sophomore Brian Sneed (Chattanooga, TN/McCallie), senior Oliver Buccicone (Rochester, MN/Lourdes), freshman Rich Guerard (Chatham, NJ/Morristown-Beard) and Robinson concluded the day by placing sixth in its event in 6:52.15.

Kenyon continues to lead the championships with 482.5 points, followed by Emory (290), Carnegie Mellon (227.5), Denison (186) and Hopkins (143).

The championships conclude Saturday as the 1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 3-meter diving and 400 freestyle relay events will be held.
