Results

HOLLAND, MI - The men's swimming team remained in third place after the second day of competition at the NCAA Championships, hosted by Hope College. Kenyon increased its lead to 101 points over second-place Emory in the Lords' quest for a 26th-straight Division III title.

Hopkins started Day 2 with a silver medal performance in the 200 medley relay. Freshman Ryan Kim (Seoul, Korea/Georgetown Prep), junior Tyler Harris (Lancaster, OH/Lancaster), junior Brian Sneed (Chatanooga, TN/McCallie) and freshman Bradley Test (Dresher, PA/Germantown Academy) finished in 1:31.37, while Emory won the event in 1:32.02 after Kenyon was declared disqualified.
 

 

The best individual finish was by Harris in the 100 breaststroke, where he placed sixth with a time of :57.06. Junior Zane Hamilton (Chatanooga, TN/McCallie) finished at :57.38, good for ninth.

Kim earned seventh place in the 100 backstroke, finishing at :51.09, while senior J.P. Balfour (Plano, TX/Plano) placed eighth in the 400 IM at 4:04.33, ahead of senior Jon Kleinman (North Oaks, MN/Mounds View) at 4:04.03 (10th-place) and freshman Matt Fedderly (Baltimore, MD/McDonogh) at 4:04.43 (11th-place).

Sneed placed 12th in the 100 fly with a time of :50.46, while junior Sean Kim (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch) finished 15th at :50.86. Sophomore Rich Guerard (Chatham, NJ/Mooristown-Beard) finished 13th in the 200 free with a time of 1:42.43.
