Blue Jay Men's Swimming Defeats Franklin & Marshall, 120-72

Baltimore, MD - The Johns Hopkins men's swimming team won all 11 events en route to an easy 120-72 win over Franklin & Marshall Friday night at the White Athletic Center. The Blue Jays opened the meet by taking the 200 medley relay, as the team of seniors Scott Pitz (Paoli, PA/Conestoga), Loren Robinson (Coats, NC/Triton), Matt McKee (Rocky River, OH/St. Edward), and Kyle Robinson (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional) captured the event in 1:38.94. Sophomore Matt Chana (Northbrook, IL/Glenbrook North) then won the 1650 freestyle in 16:24.22, and sophomore Zane Hamilton (Chattanooga, TN/McCallie) followed by winning the 200 freestyle in 1:46.37. Junior Paul Zalewski (St. Louis, MO/Kirkwood) then took the 50 freestyle in 22.70, while sophomore Sean Kim (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch) captured the 400 individual medley in 4:13.39. Junior J.P. Balfour (Plano, TX/Plano East) followed by taking the 100 butterfly in 52.47, and Kyle Robinson won the 100 freestyle in 47.37. McKee then captured the 100 backstroke in 55.39, junior Jon Kleinman (North Oaks, MN/Mounds View) took the 500 freestyle in 4:46.56, and Loren Robinson won the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.45.
The Blue Jays ended the meet by winning the 200 freestyle relay, as the team of Kyle Robinson, sophomore Tyler Harris (Lancaster, OH/Lancaster), Hamilton, and Zalewski won the event in 1:26.95.
Hopkins, which improved to 7-3 on the season, returns to the pool on Saturday, February 7, when the Blue Jays host UMBC at 11 a.m. -30- |
