BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins men's swim team won its final dual meet of the season, 146-110 over visiting Washington & Lee Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays improve to 6-4 heading into the ECAC Conference Championships in mid-February.

Junior Brad Test (Dresher, PA/Germantown Academy) swam to a second place finish in the 50 Free with a time of 21.47. Freshman Neil Mahoney (Minneapolis, MN/Minnetonka) then got the first of his two wins in the 100 Free with a time of 47.62. He followed that with a win in the 200 Free (1:43.75). Sophomore Colin Kleinguetl (Kingwood, TX/Kingwood) got the first of his two wins in the 500 Free (4:49.91). Kleinguetl then took first in the 1000 Free with a time of 9:49.00. Senior Keith Parent (Amherst, MA/Amherst Regional) took second with a time of 10:10.08.

Freshman John Thomas (Montrose, CO/Montrose) won the first of his two events, swimming the 100 Back in a time of 52.55. Senior Kevin Walsh (Athens, GA/Cedar Shoals) took third with a time of 54.34. Thomas then won the 200 Back in 1:54.99. Junior Matt Fedderly (Baltimore, MD/McDonogh School) followed with a win in the 100 Breast (1:00.42) and the 200 Breast (2:12.69). Freshman Todd Spock (Dresher, PA/Germantown Academy) and Jon Kegelman (Yorktown, VA/Tabb) shared second in the 100 Breast (1:02.07). Kegelman then took second in the 200 Breast (2:14.50). Sophomore Bob Sershon (Chicago, IL/St. Patrick) won the 200 Fly (1:56.57) with Kleinguetl taking second (1:57.28). Hopkins then swam exhibitions in the 100 Fly, 200 IM and the 400 Free Relay. The Blue Jays did swim the 200 Medley Relay and won with a time of 1:37.07. Thomas, Fedderly, Sershon and Test all swam in the relay.
 

 

Hopkins will have 2 1/2 weeks to prepare for the conference championships. The championships will take place in Cambridge, MA from February 16-18. The Blue Jays won the 2006 ECAC Conference championship.
