CHAPEL HILL, NC - The 15th-ranked North Carolina women's swimming team and the 19th-ranked men's team defeated Johns Hopkins 206-73 and 181-108 Wednesday afternoon at Koury Natatorium. The UNC women turned in the top time or score in all 16 events on the afternoon while the Tar Heel men had the best time or score in 14 events.

The Blue Jay men opened with a first-place finish over the North Carolina "C" team in the 200 medley relay after the Tar Heel's "A" and "B" teams were both disqualified. Ryan Kim, Tyler Harris, Brian Sneed and Bradley Test finished in 1:37.30, just ahead of the Tar Heels' time of 1:37.63.

Matt Chana placed second in the 1000 freestyle while Harris and Zane Hamilton finished first and third in the 100 breaststroke. Keith Parent followed that up with a second-place finish in the 200 butterfly before Andrew Stirn and Dave Strickland took second and third in the 50 freestyle and Test finished third in the 100 free.

On the women's side, Stephanie Leaman and Kalei Walker each placed third in the 1000 freestyle and 200 freestyle, respectively, during the first female events. Kelly Robinson and Abiona Redwood also earned bronze in the 200 butterfly and 50 free before Allie Foster captured the highest women's finish, second place in the 200 breaststroke.

The Hopkins swimming teams return to action January 29 at home against Washington & Lee. The meet begins at 10 a.m.
