LANCASTER, PA - Johns Hopkins men's soccer freshman Nick Cerrone has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday morning. It is the first honor for Cerrone and the first for the Blue Jays this season.
Cerrone manned the nets for 200 minutes of scoreless soccer last week as Johns Hopkins went 1-0-1. He made four saves in a 0-0 double overtime draw with York on Tuesday and then turned away a pair of shots in the 1-0 triumph against 19th-ranked Muhlenberg in a battle of conference unbeatens.
Cerrone posts a .938 save percentage and a 0.21 goals against average in five games this season. He is 3-0-1 with three shutouts. Hopkins returns to action on Wednesday, September 28 as the Blue Jays travel to Gettysburg for a key conference match-up.
