A Look Back: Johns Hopkins went 1-1-10 last week and picked up a big Centennial Conference win over #11 Swarthmore. Hopkins hit the road last week and battled to a 2-2 draw against Cabrini. Senior Akash Naik and sophomore Scott Bukoski tallied for the Blue Jays. On Saturday, Hopkins returned home and hosted #11 Swarthmore in the Centennial Conference opener for both schools. The Blue Jays jumped on the Garnet early, scoring two goals in the opening 11 minutes. Bukoski and freshman Drew Holland provided the offense for Hopkins, while junior Matt Mierley made four saves to earn his second shutout of the season.

The Week Ahead: For the third straight week, Hopkins is on the road on Wednesday as it travels to Aston, PA to take on Neumann College. It will be the first ever meeting between the two. Hopkins then visits Haverford on Saturday in a Centennial Conference match-up. The Blue Jays are 23-16-4 all-time against the Fords, in a series that dates back to 1944. Hopkins has won 12 straight against Haverford.

At the Helm: Head coach Craig Appleby is in his first season at Johns Hopkins and carries a 6-2-1 record with the Blue Jays. Appleby came to JHU after spending six seasons as the head coach of Emory & Henry.

Twenty-One: Head coach Craig Appleby boasts a 6-1-2 (.722) record through his first nine games. He is the first coach since 1987 and just the fifth ever to boast a win percentage of .700 or better through the first nine games.

On the Move: Senior Nick Gauna enters this weekend ranked ninth in Johns Hopkins history with 76 career points. He is two points shy of moving into a tie with Ryan Kitzen for eighth all-time. Gauna is also tied for 15th with 26 career goals and fourth with 24 career assists.
Scott Bukoski is also making his mark on the record book. The sophomore already ranks in the top-15 in career points and goals. He ranks 13th with 65 points and 10th with 26 goals. Last season, he became just the fifth player in program history to score 20 or more goals in one season. Spreading the Wealth: In their nine games so far this season, nine different Blue Jays have scored a goal and 12 different players have tallied a point.

Leading the Way: Sophomore forward Scott Bukoski continues to lead the Centennial Conference in seven of the nine offensive categories, including goals (8), points (19) and game-winning goals (3). Hopkins leads the Centennial Conference in four of six team offensive categories - shots (160), points (54), goals (19) and assists (16).

Preseason Favorite: The Blue Jays were favored to win their eighth Centennial Conference title in the 2008 Centennial Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. Hopkins picked up 77 points with seven first-place votes. The Blue Jays have been the preseason favorite for six straight years, dating back to the 2003 preseason coaches poll.
