LANCASTER, PA – For the first time in his career, Johns Hopkins sophomore Achim Younker has been named the Centennial Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. He scored four goals in leading Hopkins to three wins last week.
Younker accounted for all three of Hopkins’ goals in the Blue Jays’ win at Frostburg on Wednesday night. It was his first career hat trick and the first hat trick by a Blue Jay since September 2009. Younker also scored in Hopkins’ 2-0 win at Plattsburgh State on Sunday in the championship game of the Best Western Plus Cardinal Classic. He was named the tournament’s Offensive MVP as the Blue Jays grabbed the title.
Younker leads the Blue Jays and is tied for third in the nation with five goals in four games. His five goals this season are a career high as he had just three as a freshman.
Hopkins is back at Homewood Field on Wednesday as the Blue Jays host the York Spartans. Game time is slated for 7:00 pm.
