A Look Back: • Johns Hopkins rattled off three straight wins last week, including a pair in Sewanee, TN to win the Kyle Rote, Jr. Invitational for the second straight season.

• The Blue Jays wrapped up a three-game homestand last Wednesday with a 3-1 win over the St. Mary's Seahawks. Sophomore Scott Bukoski led the way with a pair of goals, while senior Ethan Mulligan notched the game-winner in the 70th minute.

• Hopkins then hit the road for the first time this season and beat Birmingham Southern 4-1 at Sewanee. Bukoski once again had two goals, with senior Akash Naik chipping in a goal and an assist in the win.

• Hopkins closed out the week with a 3-0 win over host Sewanee to win the Kyle Rote, Jr. Invitational. Bukoski had his third straight two-goal game while junior Max Venker scored his first goal of the season.

I'm Honored: • Sophomore forward Scott Bukoski was honored as the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after scoring six goals and one assist in three games last week.

The Week Ahead: • JHU hits the road this week for a crucial non-conference game at #4 York. The Spartans edged the Blue Jays 2-1 on Homewood Field in last year's meeting. It was the first meeting between the two since 2000. Hopkins and York had met every year from 1981 to 2000.

• Hopkins returns home on Saturday to host Bridgewater in just the third meeting between the two schools. The Blue Jays won last year's meeting in Bridgewater, VA by a score of 5-0.

Team Notes: • Head coach Craig Appleby is in his first season at Johns Hopkins and carries a 4-1-0 record with the Blue Jays. Appleby came to JHU after spending six seasons as the head coach of Emory & Henry.

• Appleby is the first head coach at Hopkins to go 4-1-0 in his first five games since Cornelius Cochrane in 1953 and just the third in the program's history. Cochrane finished his first season with an 8-2-0 mark. Wilson Fewster also achieved the feat, in 1952, and finished with a 7-3-0 record in his first (and only) season.

• Senior Nick Gauna currently ranks 10th in program history with 73 career points, just one shy of ninth-ranked Greg Cunningham's 74 career points. He is also fourth in career assists with 23.

• Sophomore Scott Bukoski is also making his mark on the record. He is already tied for 15th in career points (59) and tied for 14th in career goals (26).

• The Blue Jays were favored to win their eighth Centennial Conference title in the 2008 Centennial Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. Hopkins picked up 77 points with seven first place votes. The Blue Jays have been the preseason favorite for six straight years, dating back to the 2003 preseason coaches poll.

• Seniors Matty Carlson, Robbie Carper, Ethan Mulligan and Akash Naik will captain the Blue Jays in 2008. For Carlson, it is his third season as a captain for JHU making him the first three-time captain since atleast 1962.
