Westminster, MD - Senior forward Matthew Doran (Stormville, NY/John Jay) capped his illustrious career by scoring the match's only goal to lead the Johns Hopkins men's soccer team to the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Region title with a 1-0 win over Franklin & Marshall Sunday afternoon at Western Maryland College.

Doran, who scored on a penalty kick in the sixth minute, finishes the season with 18 goals and 49 points, both team highs. The senior also concludes his career with 70 goals and 168 points, both ranking him second on the school career lists. Both of those career totals also put Doran in the top 20 on the all-time Division III lists.

The ECAC title is the Blue Jays' second in three years. The 1999 squad also took home the Mid-Atlantic championship with wins over Carnegie Mellon and Muhlenberg.

Hopkins goalkeeper Gary Kane, Jr. (Lansdale, PA/LaSalle College) capped a stellar freshman season by recording three saves to post the shutout. The Blue Jays notched 13 shutouts this season, one short of the school record.

Hopkins finishes the season 17-3, the third-best mark in school history.
