Westminster, MD - Senior midfielder Ryan Kitzen (Massapequa Park, NY/Massapequa) scored the game-winning goal with 1:16 remaining in regulation to lead the Johns Hopkins men's soccer team over Moravian, 3-2, Saturday afternoon on the campus of Western Maryland College.

With the victory, the Blue Jays move into the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Region Championship Game Sunday at 1 p.m. against Franklin & Marshall, who defeated the host Green Terror, 4-2, in the first semifinal. Hopkins beat the Diplomats, 3-2, on October 27 in the regular season finale for both teams.

The Greyhounds struck first 20 minutes into the match on an unassisted goal by Brian Donofrio, but Hopkins freshman Chris Brown (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) tied the match with his first career goal off an assist from Matt Weill (Merrick, NY/Kellenberg Memorial).

Junior Daniel Brienza (Farmingville, NY/Sachem) gave the Blue Jays their first lead when he found the back of the net in the 63rd minute, scoring off a feed from Paul Galli (Roslyn, NY/Herricks). Moravian, which suffered a 3-0 defeat to Hopkins in the regular season, came back to tie the match at two with 11:21 remaining on an unassisted goal by Daniel Samuelsson.

Gary Kane, Jr. (Lansdale, PA/LaSalle College) made seven saves in goal for Hopkins. The Blue Jays conclude their 2001 season Sunday when they face Franklin & Marshall at 1 p.m. in Westminster.
