GETTYSBURG, PA - Senior forward Matthew Doran (Stormville, NY/John Jay) scored two goals to lead the Johns Hopkins men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Centennial rival Gettysburg today in Pennsylvania. The Blue Jays improved to 14-2 overall and 8-0 in the Centennial and moved one step closer to clinching the top seed in the Centennial Conference Tournament. JHU can secure the No. 1 seed with a Franklin & Marshall loss to Muhlenberg, or with a win or tie against F&M in the final game of the regular season.

Doran opened the scoring in the 11th minute of the match off a corner kick from senior forward Aerik Williams (Columbus, OH/Columbus Academy) for his 16th goal of the season. He added his second goal of the game, the 69th of his career, in the 86th minute off assists from Williams and sophomore midfielder Chad Tarabolous (Tulsa, OK/Cascia Hall). Doran is now just three goals and six points behind JHU's all-time leading scorer Eric West. With his two assists, Williams increased his school-record to 40 for his career. Tarabolous now has 10 assists and 40 points for his career.

Freshman Gary Kane Jr. (Lansdale, PA/LaSalle College) made four saves for his fifth shutout of the season. Steve Kopp tallied 11 saves for the Bullets as Hopkins held a 20-10 advantage on shots.

The Blue Jays will look to secure the top seed in the Centennial Conference Tournament and remain undefeated in conference play as they host Franklin & Marshall in the final match of the regular season on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
