Box Score

CARLISLE, PA - A four-goal spree in a span of just 20:25 in the second half lifted #19 Johns Hopkins to a crucial 4-2 Centennial Conference win at Dickinson on Saturday. The Blue Jays, now with 13 points, remain atop the conference standings with the win. Hopkins is now 10-2-2 overall and 4-0-1 in the Centennial, while Dickinson slips to 9-4-0 overall and 3-2-0 in the conference.

Dickinson got on the board early as Ben Gemberling-Johnson scored in just the 11th minute to give the home team a 1-0 lead. It would take until the 50th minute for Hopkins to answer, but that was just the beginning of a 4-0 run for the Blue Jays. Senior Nick Gauna (Evanston, IL/Evanston) knotted the game with his 27th career goal in the 50th minute. Less than five minutes later, sophomore David Drake (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) found the back of the net to give Hopkins its first lead of the game. Just two minutes later, in the 58th minute, freshman Drew Holland (Sudbury, MA/Belmont Hill School) banged home a rebound off a corner kick to push the Blue Jays' lead to two.

Senior Matty Carlson (Bristol, CT/Loomis Chaffee) made it a three-goal game in the 71st minute as he converted a pass from sophomore Chris Wilson (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) for his third of the season. Dickinson continued to battle and capitalized just 21 seconds after Carlson's strike on a goal from Thomas Parkinson. That would be all the scoring though as Hopkins took home the 4-2 win.

Gauna's goal gives him 80 career points as he now stands alone in eighth place in Johns Hopkins history. Junior goalie Matt Mierley (Weston, FL/St. Thomas Aquinas) finished with four saves in the win for the Blue Jays, while Rodrigo Barboza posted five saves in the loss for the Red Devils.

Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, October 18 as it travels to Collegeville, PA to take on Ursinus. The Centennial Conference match is scheduled to start at 1:00 pm.
