Blue Jays Win Fifth Straight With 3-0 Victory Over Washington College Sept. 26, 2001
Chestertown, MD - The Johns Hopkins men's soccer team continued to roll with a 3-0 win over Washington College Wednesday afternoon. The Blue Jays are now 8-1 and have won five straight matches, all by shutouts. More importantly, Hopkins is all alone in first place with a 4-0 record in the Centennial Conference. Paul Galli (Roslyn, NY/Herricks) got the Blue Jays on the board when he headed an Aerik Williams (Columbus, OH/Columbus Academy) cross into the net in the 11th minute. Just 2:11 later, Matthew Doran (Stormville, NY/John Jay) scored, his sixth goal in the last five games and team-leading 10th of the season, to give Hopkins a 2-0 lead. The Blue Jays maintained their two-goal advantage until the 73rd minute, when Chad Tarabolous (Tulsa, OK/Cascia Hall) scored an unassisted goal to make the final score 3-0. Hopkins goalkeeper Gary Kane, Jr. (Lansdale, PA/Lansdale Catholic) posted four saves to record his second career shutout. Washingon goalie Esteban Ferro made 18 saves in defeat. The Blue Jays will put their 15-match conference win streak on the line Saturday when Hopkins travels to Muhlenberg for a 7 p.m. contest.
