Box Score

ASTON, PA - Junior Max Venker (Oldsmar, FL/Palm Harbor University High) scored two goals to lead Johns Hopkins to a 4-0 win at Neumann on Wednesday afternoon. The Blue Jays improve to 7-2-1 overall while the Knights fall to 1-5-2.

Venker put the visitors on the board, with the eventual game-winner, in the 29th minute off an assist from sophomore Kevin Hueber (High Bridge, NJ/Voorhees). Venker then scored again, this time in the 43rd minute, as Hopkins took a 2-0 lead into the half.

In the 53rd minute, sophomore Evan Kleinberg (South Orange, NJ/Columbia) converted a penalty kick to push the Blue Jays lead to three. Junior Ravi Gill (Morganville, NJ/Marlboro) then came into the game, replacing junior Matt Mierley (Weston, FL/St. Thomas Aquinas) in the goal. Senior Robbie Carper (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. Hebron) closed out the scoring in the 65th minute off an assist from Kleinberg.

Hopkins outshot Neumann 20-2 as neither Mierley nor Gill was forced to make a save. Zac Ratliff finished with 10 saves for Neumann.

Hopkins returns to action on Saturday as it travels to Haverford for a Centennial Conference match-up. Game time is slated for 3:00 pm.
